Moxy Banff resulted from a 30 million dollar makeover of Banff’s first commercial motor hotel, The Voyager Inn, originally constructed in 1964. Moxy Banff is a family-friendly hotel in Banff with a bold mid-century design anchored in the centre by Bar Moxy and flanked on both sides by expansive rundle stone walls and unique precast guest wings that float over the parkades. The guest experience starts with a trip back in time as you enter the hotel to check in at Bar Moxy. Lit by an upside-down bear wearing headphones, the check-in experience sets the tone for the fun ahead as every guest receives a complimentary cocktail. The bar evokes a retro ski vibe with its racetrack design and chairlift-inspired liquor baskets.Bar Moxy’s doors open right onto the courtyard, a fun social space perfect for lounging by the fire or taking a dip in the hot pools. Hungry fun seekers will enjoy delicious apre’s and all-day menu from Bar Moxy’s fully restored ‘66 VW food truck.
Due to the staff's quality assistance, most guests were able to enjoy their overall stay. The staff especially the front desk personnel was very knowledgeable and was more than willing to provide useful information to help guests with their tours.
The breakfast served was extremely satisfying according to most guests! It was better than most guests have expected due to the wide variety of breakfast food with healthy options such as fruits, and yoghurt. There is also an option to upgrade to a hot breakfast for an added cost.
Most guests were impressed with the quality of the mattresses and huge double beds that were spotlessly clean and comfortable. The sheets, linens, and bedding were freshly prepared so they were able to have a relaxing stay.
Most of the negative reviews were focused on the lack of air-conditioning system provided inside the rooms. The guests had difficulty staying inside due to the hot temperature and lack of proper ventilation. As a result, guests had no choice but to open the balcony door to get some fresh air.
Because of its distant location from the city centre and transportation systems, most guests had difficulty travelling within the area by foot. It was very inconvenient and impractical for most guests since the property was far from the town and they had to take a cab or take a short drive using their private vehicles.
Guests were disappointed with the loud actions or activities of people from adjacent rooms. The loud noises coming from people from the hallway and loud chatting from the other rooms were clearly heard due to the thin wall structure.
