Step back in time at the Fairmont Chateau Laurier. Enjoying one of the finest locations in Ottawa, beside the Rideau Canal, this stately hotel offers luxurious dining with views over the Parliament.
Guestrooms have Keurig coffeemaker, mini bar, work desk, LCD TV, Wi-Fi (fee applies) and complimentary bathrobes. Some have city and parliament views. Opulent suites come with living spaces.
This historic hotel has a state-of-the-art fitness room and an attractive indoor pool, designed in an Art-Deco style. A business center and three gift shops can be found in the lobby.
Inspired Canadian cuisine is the order of the day at Wilfred’s Restaurant. Soak up the old world atmosphere over afternoon tea in Zoe’s Lounge, the hotel’s casual option.
Major’s Hill Park, the Shaw Center and Rideau Center Mall are a five-minute walk from the hotel. The ByWard Market and the National Gallery of Canada are 10 minutes away by foot.
This impressive castle-like building with its breath-taking lobby area and opulently furnished rooms lives long in memory of those who visit. Guests love the 'fairy-tale' experience of staying in this magical setting. You'll love the style and elegance on display throughout, not least in the hotel's uniquely beautiful art-deco pool.
Location Makes This A Must-Stay
Countless guests' comments attest to the hotel's location as outstanding. Ideally situated within one of the city's most desirable districts, the ultra-convenience delights both sightseers and shoppers alike. The wealth of entertainment and dining options on your doorstep contribute to an effortlessly enjoyable stay.
High Tea? Yes, Please!
While the quality of the food and views afforded guests at Wilfred's is undeniable, many love the more laid-back atmosphere to be found at Zoe's Lounge. 'High-Tea' is an inexpensive and deliciously different time of day, with traditional teapots and platters of scones providing a very British experience!
Not All Rooms Are As Amazing
While the vast majority of the rooms at this hotel are to guests' liking, other reports suggest a variance in the quality between some of them. A few visitors feel that the hotel's older rooms are outmoded and cramped. Stains on carpets and musty odours are among the other minor issues reported by some.
Some guests are unhappy at the additional charges incurred during their stay. Parking charges are a recurring bone of contention, with many feeling that the relatively high (though competitive) room rate ought to include this service. Over-priced in-room drinks and snacks provide a nasty shock for some come check-out time!
Ear-Plugs Suggested for Light-Sleepers
While the majority of visitors enjoy a blissful night's rest in unparalleled comfort, some light-sleepers are not so lucky. Badly soundproofed rooms do little to insulate noise from adjoining rooms and corridors, while loud AC units and gushing water pipes inside the room have led to room-change requests from some sound-sensitive souls.
