Positive Reviews

Close to it all.

This location is close to all the best that Paris has to offer. Guests can take advantage of nearby travel stops, stations, and metrolines. Notre Dame and the Latin Quarter are within walking distance, as are markets, bakeries, and a host of other eating and drinking opportunities.

Speaking my language.

The staff at the hotel are very kind and helpful to tourists. They are particularly helpful to new tourists and provide both knowledge and thoughtful advice. They help quickly with problems and their bi-lingual services are a true asset.

Quaint, but functional.

The rooms are a good value because they are clean and tidy, and of a reasonable size. The breakfast is good, while not abundant with choice. The hotel is old, but has been nicely renovated and the WiFi functions well. Overall, the hotel is quaint and charming, but functional.

Negative Reviews

No red carpet rolled out.

These accommodations are basic, but functional for those who mostly want to be on the streets of Paris, as opposed to sitting in a hotel room. No special carpets will be rolled out and guests shouldn't expect any special features, attractions, or great views. It's a stopping point and a rest for the adventure, not the adventure itself.

It's Parisian.

For guests travelling from the United States or Britain, the rooms are going to feel small and cramped. This is the "Parisian style", though. Old and historic buildings weren't generally built for large bedrooms and those standards are what you'll get, along with tiny baths and a lift that might fit two comfortably.

Air-conditioning is a luxury.

Here, air-conditioning is a luxury you just can't afford. The hotel doesn't provided central air, but does give guests room fans and the windows can be opened for breezes. Depending on the time of year, and noise from the street below, this might prove uncomfortable for those expecting relief from the heat.
