Positive Reviews

Cosy lakeside setting

The main attraction of these quaint, old-world cottages is snuggling up in front of the wood-burning fireplaces and taking in the incredible views of the lake. Guests love the beautiful views of Lake Peninsula and the lovely quiet grounds which surround them. There is plenty of wood and kindling supplied as well to get the fires started.

Free sporting equipment

Guests appreciate being able to have free use of water-sport equipment on the lake. They can use canoes, kayaks and boats whenever they feel like it, as well as making use of other facilities such as tennis courts and a pool.

Practical for visiting Algonquin Park

The accommodation’s location is quite convenient for travellers wishing to visit Algonquin National Park. Guests say it is just a ten-minute drive away, whilst nearby Huntsville offers evening entertainment and the chance to stock up on supplies.

Negative Reviews

Dated accommodation

Many of the cottages are starting to show their age and look a bit run down, whilst the equipment and facilities in general look a bit tired and worn out. Guests say that certain cottages are poorly maintained, with fixtures and fittings in poor condition.

Hot water can be an issue

Guests often report issues with getting regular and reliable hot water in their cottages. Water can run cold quite quickly or the temperature can be quite unstable and fluctuate constantly.

Wi-Fi is not very strong

Connecting to the internet is not the easiest thing to do here. Guests say that the signal is very poor and unable to reach many of the cottages.
