Positive Reviews

Great location..

Guests rave about the hotel's location directly on the city's pretty boardwalk, in between the Historic Properties and Casino Nova Scotia. The Halifax Metro Ferry service, HMCS Sackville floating museum, the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic, and many shops, restaurants, and entertainment options are within comfortable walking distance. Most guests find that the Halifax Public Gardens are well worth the 20-minute uphill trek (or short drive, for less avid walkers).

Friendly, knowledgeable staff..

Many guests have given the front desk, housekeeping, and wait staff rave reviews for their personable and professional customer service, commenting often on their smiling faces. The concierge receives top marks for her knowledge of the area, including popular day trip destinations such as Peggy's Cove.

Clean, comfortable rooms with a view

The rooms are generally described as sparkling clean, tastefully decorated, and modern. Several guests claim the beds are the "most comfortable" they have ever slept in, and note that the harbor view rooms and access to the Concierge Lounge are well worth the premium rate.

Negative Reviews

A poor view or pool view..

Though some guests enjoy a view of the harbor, others have a view of the hotel rooftop, ventilation system, or the pool. The last is a great plus for guests with children who like an early morning swim, but seems to be a minus for most other guests.

A chilly reception..

While some guests enjoy the new, more modern look in the lobby, others find it a bit "corporate" and lacking its former warmth. A few others were disappointed to find these same qualities in the front desk staff.

Pet unfriendly?

Some pet owners find the additional "cleaning fee" a bit steep, while other guests have been dismayed to find pets, as opposed to service animals, in common areas.
