Resort Barceló Bávaro Beach (Playa Bavaro, Dominican Republic)

The hotel is only a few minutes' walk from the white-sand beach, which is well maintained and offers couples a chance to relax on lounge chairs under shady palm trees or take a swim in the turquoise ocean.

Guests found the pool area to be inviting and liked the pool's curvy layout as well as the lounge chairs and massage huts surrounding it.

Guests staying at this resort also have access to many amenities at the Palace Deluxe such as its pools, the casino, a nightclub, a gym and an 18-hole golf course.

Guests reported that the hotel's all-inclusive dining had relatively limited choices and no option to grab a snack, since you actually have to embark on a 15-minute walk to a nearby affiliated hotel to find the other restaurants. Several guests commented on the fact that the alcohol was very watered down and that there wasn't much food variety. A few guests also pointed out that there were some bugs present as well as a strong odor of bug spray in the dining room.

For an adult-only hotel, guests found the bathrooms too small and the step-in tubs in the standard rooms to be less ideal than a shower would have been. Some also had old shower heads, which did not function well.

Several guests noted that the check-in process can take between 20 and 40 minutes, and getting service at the bar and restaurant wasn't any faster.
