Toronto Garden Inn is a charming bed and breakfast facility housed in a Victorian structure dating back to the 1890s, located close to the centre of Toronto (Canada). Guests enjoy a cosy, homely atmosphere and the convenience of being located on route of 24 hour public transportation. There are six individually decorated smoke free rooms and one apartment suite. All rooms have cable TV, phones with free local calls, air conditioning and lovely old fashioned furniture. Daily housekeeping is provided. Parking facilities are present. There is a library, a picnic area, garden and barbecue grills for the enjoyment of guests. Luggage storage facilities are available. The charming interiors, traditional decor, clean and comfortable rooms attract many positive reviews. With just seven rooms, the bed and breakfast has a lot of character, and offers quiet and homely stays that many guests enjoyed thoroughly.
The family run establishment has very friendly and welcoming hosts who are happy to offer local information and guidance. The breakfast receives good reviews as does the all day kitchen that is available for guest use.
Though the Toronto Garden Inn is located in a quiet and lovely street, it is within easy walking distance of several noteworthy attractions of the city. The neighbourhood is very good and there are some good shopping and eating out options close by.
Several guests who were not familiar with the bed and breakfast concept had problems with features such as shared bathrooms and shared common areas. Some guests felt it was rather odd to be ‘sharing' the house with the owners and other guests.
While some rooms are fairly spacious, one or two guests described the rooms at the rear as ‘pokey'. Some guests felt that the interiors of the B&B were rather dark and had a worn feeling. Some guests also missed having a lift in the B&B.
Several guests found that finding parking around the area was a problem. Either there was no parking or guests needed to park quite far away. Some guests mentioned that the owners had sent them parking permits beforehand.
