Guests reported that the hotel is good value for money, being located 10-minutes' drive from downtown Portland at much lower prices than downtown accommodation. There are also several restaurants, a supermarket and bakery in close proximity to the hotel. Joker's Family Fun and Games is a 12-minute walk away.

The rooms have been described as spacious, clean and modern. The beds are reportedly comfortable and guests also enjoyed use of the on-site gym.

The staff are hospitable, courteous and professional. Guests reported that staff are ready to greet you with a smile and make themselves available to provide any assistance needed.

Ramada Plaza Portland offers non-smoking rooms, however guests reported that some of the non-smoking rooms smelled strongly of stale cigarette smoke. Others also reported that the smell of cigarettes permeated the hallways.

Despite other favorable reviews, several guests reported negative experiences in relation to the standard of cleanliness. Complaints included finding hair in the bathroom area as well as sink and shower drains being clogged with hair. Guests also complained of smelling mildew and finding mold growing in the bathroom. Some rooms had not been vacuumed well, carpets were found to be stained, and some surfaces were covered in dust.

Some guests felt that the hotel was in need of renovating. Complaints included that decor was old and outdated. Sound proofing is poor and the sound of neighbours talking and moving around can be heard.
