The King George Inn is located steps from the beautiful Cobourg Harbour, Marina and Sandy Beach and the Heritage downtown. Our hotel offers many amenities from a party room, courtyards for your leisure and wonderful grounds and Terrace. Theme and non-themed rooms available. Full family rooms with bunks are also available. This was originally the Governors' mansion in the 1800,s and later became the Cobourg Provincial Jail from 1906 - 1998. Some of our rooms have kept the Victorian style of the Governor and some are jail themed keeping the original bars from the jail. Victorian rooms from the Old Governor's Mansion OR real jail-themed rooms available. Check in is between 3 pm and 7:00 pm. Please view photos of the room as everyone is different. The jail themed rooms which are not for everyone with authentic bathroom facilities. All rooms have their own bathrooms but they vary in style.. Our in-house restaurant is temporarily closed this season. We would love to extend a wonderful recommendation to our off-site restaurant called The Cat and the Fiddle located 40 metres north of The King George Inn.
